My Link Internship In Costa Rica
Hello, this is my internship page. March 2015 I embarked on a month long internship to Costa Rica! This internship program gave me the opportunity to join real marine research projects and contribute to the global marine conservation as well as live the experience of being in an organic farm in Costa Rica. I worked as a research assistant in Pacuare Nature Reserve on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, directly with the Scientific coordinator Marga López. I worked hands on with leatherback adult females and hatchlings in efforts to contribute to conservation experiments to raise data for local research projects. In addition I was in an organic permaculture farm and worked as a research assistant in the coral reef fish monitoring project in Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge where I assisted the coral reef researcher Marta Fabregas to conduct shallow water coral reef transects for a quantitative measure of reef resources. This internship was the first time I had embarked to a foreign country independently. It proved to be a really enlightening and challenging experience. It set the tone for how I would like to peruse my career for the rest of my life.
