El Periodismo Project Reflection!
In this project students were asked to write a news article in Spanish then meet with three other people to create a news paper. I wrote two articles, one on current events in banning shark fining and a recipe for making fried bananas. Each group was asked to choose a country and write accordingly to the country of our choice. We picked Costa Rica for our country and our news paper was called "Pura Vida!"
This project was really fun! I really enjoyed the research portion of this project. I really connected to learning about Costa Rica because I will be staying there for a whole month independently! I loved learning about Costa Rica's culture through investigating current events in their culture. My favorite moment in this project was looking over my finished product and feeling proud of my work.
This project was really challenging in times. I found myself getting frustrated with myself when I did not know words. I overcame this by advocating to my teacher Janae frequently. One spacific time when I was feeling really frustrated was when i was writing the recipe. I did not know a lot of cooking words. I over came this by looking up the words and making flash cards for the unknown words.
This project really showed me a lot about my self. One specific thing I learned is how much I care for international current events. I found myself being really engaged in current events. This shows me a possible career path I could take. It also rememinded me of my goal to be a fluent Spanish speaker by the time I go to college.
Now that I have spent a month focusing on current events in Spanish speaking countries I have learned that knowing what is happening internationally is super important. An example of this is when I travel to Costa Rica I souled be educated in events so I can be fully immersed in the culture.
