Guía de Supervivencia
Final Survival Guide
Reflection
In this project students were asked to complete a survival guide with one other student about a country of choice. My partner, Natalie, and I chose Costa Rica because of my recent travels there. After we completed our survival guide we were asked to create a skit inspired by one of the aspics of our survival guide. Natalie and I created a skit about a tourist from the United States (my character) coming to Costa Rica to learn to surf from a local (Natalie’s character) there. In the end I was really happy with our finished project.
I learned a lot through my research about Costa Rica. However, I used more of my personal experiences from my one-month trip in Costa Rica to complete my survival guide. One thing that I learned though my country research was specific restaurants within the country for the “food section” of our survival guide. One thing that I used in the survival guide that I learned from my personal experiences was the “transportation” section. While in Costa Rica I was in a new place each week so I experienced all types of transportation from busses to bikes to boats to foot. It really helped me in my writing of the transportation section specifically in the “tips” section of the “transportation” section.
I experienced a lot through this project. For example, speaking Spanish out loud in public made me feel much more confident in my Spanish speaking abilities. Another thing I gained in this project was a lot of inspiration to become a fluent Spanish speaker. I have known sense I was little that I wanted to be fluent in Spanish but this project really enforced that goal. Another thing I gained from this project was that I really liked the theatrical piece of this project. Overall, I am really pleased about the outcomes of this project.
